Sweet as - WW1 challenge for Sept

as the mum of 3 girls i couldn't resist the Sept challenge at http://whitewith1.blogspot.com/2011/09/white-with-1-september-challenge.html to use pink and journalling on the photo.. after playing around for a while i found how to put words on my photo via Picnik http://www.picnik.com/ a free photo editing site i have used for quite some time now.. so my layout... i found a sweet photo of Nisha when she was 2 1/2. I made the heart, and two of the flowers and the flag.. and enjoyed playing with PINK!!!

Freedom... OUAS sept 15

i was so glad to get into my scrap room today and get some scrapping done.. i took the latest challenge from http://onceuponasketchblog.blogspot.com/2011/09/september-15th-challenge.html
to use this sketch
and to journal on your photo.. i found this photo of me when i was about 14 i think.. i was brought up on a farm and my favourite past time was riding horses..i don't have many photos of my younger days but i do have this one so i cherish this memory so much.. the journalling reads.... bareback on my horse, the wind in my hair, sun on my face...... FREEDOM... yes i had no shoes, no saddle, and could ride like the wind when i was younger...  i used some older graphic 45 papers which were beautifully patterned, some 3-d flower stickers, string, a bit of a fence and a die cut bird cage...

thanks for coming by, and comments are always welcome..

some closies....

and i took a photo of my youngest in a field of weeds, and am so pleased with how it turned out.. the purple flower is considered a pest by farmers, but for photographers it is fabulous!! hope you are having a great day!

Share - bird is the word

the latest challenge word at.http://birdisthewordchallenge.blogspot.com/2011/09/sunday-september-11th-new-challenge.html is the word SHARE...after thinking for a while i decided to use a photo of my son, my hubby and my father in law and the journalling which i thought of reads... FATHERS AND SONS SHARE more than their last name. they share the memories of yesterday with the hopes of tomorrow.. pretty true i reckon... i used the bo bunny time piece papers with masking, stickers and hand made tags, and some kaiser pearls and a bit of cut out chicken wire..

i always find male layouts harder to do, but i am quite happy with how this turned out...

thanks for dropping in.. and thanks to you special girls who leave me a comment... xx

family...

oh dear.. firstly thank you to all you dear friends who have hugged me with your comments on my last post.. i was having a sook, feeling a bit down, but your comments have returned my smile..(and polished my ego too haha!!) thank you... it all means a lot....

now down to the stuff i love to do!

while jumping around on blogs i came across this challenge...http://stuff2scrap.blogspot.com/2011/09/septembers-challenge-with-rachael.html and i knew i had a draw full of chippies, however no stuff2scrap brand, but the challenge said any chippies would be ok...add some butterflies and have some stitching... so with this lovely sketch printed out....

i set about and came up with this.. my gorgeous family... i used kaiser papers, old music sheets which  i scrunched and glued down and painted my chipboard pieces brown.

and a bit closer of the stitching and title..

thank you again...i appreciate you!!

Beauty is...

last months sketch challenge for Scrap of Difference was to use this sketch

taken from the color room as inspiration for a layout..
i chose photos of my daughter when she was a bridesmaid and i used an overlay from Kaiser.. i haven't used an overlay like this before. i adhered it to my layout with Dimensional Magic dotted in inconspicuous places. If anyone has used another product then i would be interested in what you did to stick an overlay on a layout.. so my layout....

and a close up of the overlay...

thank you for coming by.. and for your comments.. you give me such a boost... just the other day i subbed 5 layouts to a magazine for their latest themes and before the day was out i received the thanks but no thanks email.. i felt a bit flat after that considering they were also calling for unpublished people.. i thought that maybe one of the 5 i sent would be ok... but no... i was a bit disappointed.. thinking what is wrong with my layouts??? then that afternoon my friend who i sent the card to rang and told me how much she loved the card i sent and how it cheered her up and she just wanted to say thank you.. well that lifted me up.. i know i don't scrap to be published or even to be well known.. i scrap because i enjoy it and it is my time out... i don't do challenges to win, i do them because they are a catalyst for me to begin a layout often because of the criteria or the sketch to follow.. so i write this to say thank you for all the people who come by and leave me some words of encouragement.. and if somehow i can inspire you with what i do, either by using a product or a quote or encouraging you to try a challenge i have done, then i am glad.. and if you have any ideas for something i have done then please let me know.. i am learning something all the time from you all..  thank you again..

OUAS - a special year..

the latest challenge at http://onceuponasketchblog.blogspot.com/2011/09/hi-everyone-and-welcome-to-september.html is to use the sketch and journal about a special year in your life.. well  i found it hard to narrow it down.. getting married, having children, anniversarys..moving house... but the year that i picked was 2003.. how could i go past this year??.. something extraordinary happened that year.. in January my Husband and I got on a plane and went to get our youngest daughter..we had never been on a plane, and the whole experience was one i will never forget..we were so mindful of being in another country, having to meet with their Government official, get scrutinized everywhere we went.. going to meet our daughter for the first time.. getting her put into my arms and driving away.. getting on a plane and taking her to a new country, a new family.. a huge deal for us all.. but just the most wonderful thing..

i kept to the sketch but used two photos instead of one..i love how Nisha is just tucked in between my hubby and i in the second photo... she was the missing piece  and she fit perfectly!!!
five became six!

Thanks for coming by.. and as always comments are so appreciated!!

memory... Bird is the Word

good morning.. spring is here in oz and it is so welcome in my heart that is for sure..! a new month, and new challenges..  the latest one i have done is at http://birdisthewordchallenge.blogspot.com/2011/08/august-28th-new-challenge-word-memory.html and it is to use the word MEMORY..when i see the word for the challenge, i often think of a quote.. i love quotes and there are zillions of them on the net.. then when i have the quote i think of the photo.. well i saw a quote a while ago and it reduced me to tears... and when something touches your emotions then it is very special.. so i have used a very special photo of my husbands Mothers parents.. his grandparents..  i guess i didn't get to really  know them but what i knew about them was they were beautiful people who cherished their family and welcomed everyone with love.. and are so very dearly missed.. so the quote i have used is... when someone you love becomes a MEMORY, that MEMORY becomes a treasure...i am sure we all have someone who is now very treasured in our hearts...

thanks for visiting, and thank you for leaving a comment..  it is lovely to know you dropped by!!xx
