IN MY ARMS (at last) - OUAS April

A good afternoon to you all! I hope your day is going as well as can be!

I have just completed my layout for Once Upon A Sketch for April and the challenge is to create a layout about the best day of your life.. well as with everyone, there are so many 'best days' that I can think of but one of many days that really stand out for me and one day that I have wanted to scrap for a long time came to my mind...

We are to use this sketch for inspiration..

I rotated the sketch once clock wise..

Well the day I am scrapping is one I will never forget...Please excuse the extremely poor quality of the photo I have used.. My husband took this photo as I was walking down the tunnel to board a plane to bring my baby girl home so my DD and I are really dark in the original photo and I have tried to lighten it as much as I could to see our faces and yet still see the plane in the back ground.. It is the only photo I have (pre digital days..) so it is very precious to me even in this poor quality..

It was almost 9 years to the day from when we applied to finally taking custody of our daughter.. and the day we flew home was such a huge day..surreal in part, very emotional and one of the best days of my life!

In my arms..(at last)

and a bit closer..

I used the forget me not collection from kaiser and used the die cuts, the stickers and then some fussy cut flowers layered up with foam tape..I used 2 photos as per the sketch, I just put the smaller one on top of the larger one...

This layout was good therapy, as I was creating it I was remembering this special day after being overseas for 5 days I was so looking forward to getting home with my baby girl and getting her settled into her new life..It was only through the strength of God and knowing His promises that I waited for 9 years.. but it has been more then worth it with this beautiful girl as my daughter..

Thanks for coming by, and as always thank you for sharing your thoughts on my layouts..

  7. Oh, Lizzy! This is so beautiful in every way! Your story hits home with me, too. We went to Peru 23 years ago to adopt our son and stayed there for six weeks (paperwork). I know the incredible feeling to be finally able to take him home.
