WHITE WITH ONE and STUCK?! Jan 1st sketch...

Hello there..
I hope your day is going as well as can be.. Last time I posted our weather was HOT but today it is breezy and overcast.. how can the weather be so changeable..? yet I am still hearing about the extreme cold across the other side of our wonderful world.. so I hope if that is where you are..  stay safe..

I have completed a layout for the WHITE WITH ONE January challenge and it is to use...
ww1 tangerine and again this month I did use some of the down loadable papers provided by WW1, as well as Kaiser has a cardstock with the color tangerine so I used that also. I was inspired by the asian feel to some of the downloadable papers and so used a photo of my DD when she had to dress up for Asia day at school several years ago..

Konnichiwa...
I did struggle with this layout a bit, I think it was the heat of the day.. but I admit I do like how the little cherry blossoms look with a simple flower punch and a bit of water color pencil for the center and a cottage cutz die for the branches..

And I also really liked the sketch over at STUCK?! for the 1st January sketch... which looks like..
and I 'stuck' to the sketch for my layout!

Tis the season to be jolly...

and I have a little hint for you that I found works well... If you are like me and have school books to cover soon and you use contact, well don't throw away the backing from your contact.. it is really waxy and works wonderfully with dies to separate the die from the paper.. I used the contact backing for the die up in the top corner of this layout  and it is quite intricate but I had no trouble separating the die from the paper..
In the sandwich you put the die, the contact backing, then your paper and run it through your die machine.. and it works a treat..
See in my photo.. the die cut just comes away from the die, because of the waxy barrier the contact backing gives..So if you are covering books for school kids soon, and you have a big shot.. keep your contact backing paper.. it really works!! I hope this helps someone with die cutting!!

Well thanks so much for coming by again, and your comments really make my day!! Thank you!!

  1. I would HAPPILY send you some of our cool here. Putting wood in the stove was quite a chore today! Your pages are so pretty! Love those little branches! What die did you use for those? Something with your big shot? Mine is finally back up and running, the hubby soldered the connection and it works so much better! I thought of you when we had it all taken apart on the work bench!

  19. Ooohhhh! Lizzy, Iooove these pages!! The first one is so pretty and I loooooove the cherry blossom ... so sweet!! The Christmas layout is fabulous!! Love the 'pop' of the red poinsettias and the happy photos, absolutely gorgeous!!! Our weather down in Adelaide is warming up again. Just can't make up it's mind, one day it's winter and the next we're in high summer again ... very confusing ... the old 'bod' is finding it hard to cope!! Must say though, it's certainly preferred to what's happening in the northern hemisphere ... that is horrendous!! Love and hugs

  20. That is a FABULOUS hint, Lizzie.....you'll just have to send me some school aged kids...& it brings back HORRID memories of school book covering. I was useless at it, & as soon as the boys were able, they did it themselves. Saved them being EMBARRASSED by Mum's inept attempts!!! Anyways, I'm in ♥♥♥ with those cherry blossoms on the top one, too, & the bling flourish looks amazing! The Stuck?! is GREAT....those photos are priceless & you've really got your brights on there...YUM!!! I've had Lucas for Wed-Frid...he's sleeping over tonight, so it's been 'busy'...as little ones are! looking forward to a sleep in on Saturday - & our weather, unlike yours, has been great:):)
