hi i hope you have having a colorful day! we have had some lovely rain and somehow the grass seems greenier and the flowers are full of rich colors!
i love the idea of using one shade of color for a layout. the first time i tried this was for a white layout. there is something very clean and pure about using only white. it is ideal for weddings and baby layouts, but i love the end result of these two layouts. the white on white has such texture but a softness about it too..
i did this layout this week for a monochromatic color scheme challenge for Debs Creations. and for something totally different i have used green as my color base. i am quiet happy with the end result!

Dream..
well i have just finished another layout for Debs Creations Wonderland Challenge.. this one was a color challenge.. to use pink, purple, two tones of blue, a touch of white and brown.. (could i have asked for a better color combo with all my female photos!!??) anyway i have seen a lot of banners on the blogs and places i visit so i thought i would have a go at this myself.. my first try at doing a banner! and i think it wont be my last.!! so have you put a banner on a layout? i hope you feel inspired to put one on if you haven't!!
have a happy day!

a wonderland challenge
i have just done a layout for a challenge on Debs Creations inspired by the theme of Alice in Wonderland. You had to draw inspiration from a picture, and follow a recipe list of 'ingredients' and also have the word 'wonderland' on your layout. and this is what i came up with... This is my youngest sitting by a flower bed at Picnic Point in Toowoomba in Spring.. they have the most beautiful gardens for the Carnival of Flowers every September..

Challenge weekend
well if it rains it pours!! this weekend has a lot of challenges happening..i have two that i would love to join in with... one on Scrap of Difference, and one on Deb's Creations.. so i am not sure how many i will get to do... but last months challenges on Scrap of Difference were based on the theme of blast from the past... so i found some photos that definitely fit in that category!!
we usually have a color challenge, which was lilac and brown, a combo i have not used before, but i do like how this combination compliments each other. this is my Mum when she was a teenager in the 50's.
this layout was for the technique, and i chose to do a vintage style. this is my siblings and i about 1969 at the beach.
and this layout was for the sketch challenge. i love sketches, they provide a foundation from which to develop and create the layout. humm this photo of these two young loves was taken in 1988...and of course i haven't aged a bit..(cough cough!!!)
so hopefully i will have time to get into some of the challenges around this weekend.. it is a great way to be stretched and it also gets me to scrap faster as time soon goes and the layout needs to be uploaded into the gallery to be in the competition...
(oh and i am not bragging...... but my color and technique won last months challenge...!! and that really is a wonderful boost to think others like my creations too!!)

in the garden.
yesterday was such a lovely warm day i ventured out
into my garden. i used to do lots of gardening, but lately not so much.. not that i dont like it.. i love it.. but in the country i have lots of enemies to gardening.... lack of time, lack of good water, wallerbies and hares, frost in winter and really hot dry days in summer. ... but when there are flowers, i do like to get photos with family.... to scrap of course..!!
this double layout (from 2008) is my daughter just out in the garden in the afternoon with some flowers in her hand..
the next layout 'enjoy every moment' (from 2008) is my nieces son just sitting amongst the flowers, pulling the petals off and enjoying the sunshine..
'make everyday beautiful' is a layout with my daughter 'smelling' the daisy's.. the sun is just behind her and i love this photo, so i kept the layout simple to keep the focus on the photo. (layout Feb 2009)
again, a simple photo taken outside in my garden with a simple little bunch of daisy's, and i painted the chipboard florish in the corner to pick up on the golden color of the flowers..(layout done in march 2009)
..so next time you go out in your garden, remember it is your own private natural studio to take some simple photos which just could be the beginnings of a precious memory kept alive in a beautiful scrap layout..

my Father
we had a lovely Fathers Day on Sunday. it was shared with my Husbands family and we celebrated with a baby dedication. such a special time.. a new baby.. a new life... a whole new book...
My Dad had his 78th birthday on the Friday. we are so blessed to still have him with us as he had major heart surgery in 2008. He is such a humble man, i am a lot like him i think. and that was the inspiration behind the layout called my fathers eyes (done in 2008).. i think i have his eyes! and i think i have his gentle nature too..
i love you Dad.
