i have just done this one for http://blackwith2challenge.blogspot.com/2011/10/winners-and-our-october-challenge.html and the colors to use this month are black base with baby pink and aqua.. well aqua has a few shades so i hope my shade is ok.. i had some fun with this one.. i stitched, paint splattered, used my cricut to cut out some flourishes and big shot to do some embossing for the first time! i made one of those pleated flowers for the first time too.. ( i think i need more practice!!!! ) the photo is my DD who is modelling her hair in curls after we curled it for a wedding..
thanks for popping in... i hope you are having a great day!

WISH - BITW challenge
the latest BITW http://birdisthewordchallenge.blogspot.com/2011/10/sunday-october-23-new-challenge-word.html is to use the word WISH.. there are so many ways i could have used this word, however when looking for quotes i found this one, and it suited my DD to a t!
" those who WISH to sing, always find a song.. "
if you knew my daughter, you would know she sings nearly all the time..and she seems to have a happy outlook on life too.. so i have tried to capture that in this layout.. the photo was taken a few months after the devastating floods in January, and she is sitting in the sand along the side of the creek and the smiley face in the sand just shows she tries to be happy no matter what life is throwing at her.. i have used a softer range of colors, from a Grace Taylor paper pad called Hello Sunshine.. the sketch was optional, and i used it as a starter although i turned it once clockwise..
Those who wish to sing, always find a song... i hope you can find a song to sing today no matter what life is throwing at you.. thanks for your visit, and thanks for any comments too...

Journalling criteria: A most embarrassing/awkward/uncomfortable moment. Journal at least 2 SENTENCES on a moment that you will remember for all the wrong reasons. Examples: something you said/did, something your child said, something your pet did etc.
so after thinking about this for some time i remembered my Sons dedication when he was 6 weeks old.. It was a small part of the Church service where as parents we dedicate ourselves to raise our son in a christian home.. It was all going well and it came time for the Minister to take Nathan into his arms and pray for him, that Nathan just decided in that sacred moment to loudly fill his nappy.... oh dear.. i wasn't embarrassed, but it took all my strength not to dissolve into loud laughter.. i will remember this time for probably not the right reasons...
I rotated the sketch once anti-clockwise...

Guard Your Heart..- KIU October
the October challenge at http://kraftitup.blogspot.com/2011/10/welcome-to-octobers-kraft-it-up.html is to create a layout in one of the 3 mentioned styles... i love white on white, so i thought what would white on kraft look like.. well i think it looks really good... so i used the monochromatic style... using only white.. the photo is my 20year old daughter and i had fun stitching, stamping, i made the flower using layers of kaiser flowers and some liquid pearls for the dotty things.. and using my new big shot creating the flourishes.. and the title is just one i thought of using as i like to not only scrap memories of my kids, i like to leave them with encouraging messages that they can look back on one day, and hopefully appreciate that i tried to encourage them in their lives to live with a trust in God. so Hannah, guard your heart.. it is very precious..
a couple of close ups and the layout...
thanks for coming by...i love to read your comments!
i hope you are having a great day!

Together - BITW
the word is TOGETHER and the place to go is http://birdisthewordchallenge.blogspot.com/2011/10/october-9th-new-challenge-word-together.html ... so i got it together and created this layout.. i sort of used the sketch...
but then went off in my own direction.... as i do....
the photo i have used is of my Hubby and I in the gardens of Laurel Bank Park.. i have used Prima papers, Prima mini roses, (which i had left the wire on and curled it around a cake skewer to make curly tendrils rather then cut the wire off..) Prima pearl flourish, i made the blue flowers, and i fussy cut and lifted the small pink flowers with foam tape for a bit of interest...
well the pictures didn't work in the order i had hoped, but you get to see the layout with two close ups.. thanks for droppin by and any comments are appreciated... have a great day!

birthday at bath - OUAS oct 1st
A good day to you... any day that has scrapping in it is a good day! the latest sketch challenge at OUAShttp://onceuponasketchblog.blogspot.com/2011/10/october-1st-challenge.html is to use the sketch
as inspiration for your layout and journal about something that has happened in the last week.. well my daughter Hannah who is in London at the moment turned 20 on the 4th October, so that is pretty significant for her and i as she is no longer a teenager, and now i have 3 kids in their 20's... YEECH!! so i got a photo off facebook of Hannah visiting some huge assembly hall in Bath as she isn't here for me to get a photo of her on her birthday.. i used the beautiful bo bunny Gabrielle papers, some prima flowers, lace and punches.. i turned the sketch once clockwise...
a close up..

You are sunshine... scrap.n.art challenge
Hi all...
well firstly can i just say thank you to all the wonderful followers i have, i can't believe i now have over 100 beautiful scrappers who pop over to my little scrap blog.. thank you.. i am so encouraged by your support.. i try hard to visit your blogs too, but sometimes blogger doesn't allow me access to your sites, so i will keep trying.. (for KarenCInspired if you read this.. i have been trying to find your blog, but i cant seem to access it.. i will keep trying...)
For quite some time now i have been joining in with challenges i find.. and one i have just done is for a little site called scrap n art which you can find here..http://scrapnartjourney.blogspot.com/2011/10/october-sketch-challenge-with-twist.html. Angie is an amazing scrapper, has been published many times and creates with paper and digital.. she has a sketch up for october with a twist, and i found it very enjoyable to complete as i don't use these colors together at all... the sketch is.
which is very usable. i turned it anti clockwise once and another requirement was to use the colors black, white, grey and yellow... the flourish is a BG stamp which i colored with my felt pens and cut out. the two big flowers i made with my good old retro flower punch ( i squeezed the petals together before misting with glimmer mist).
this is something so different from usual as far as colors go.. if you haven't tried this color combo before then have a try..Angie would love more girls to come over and be a part.. she has a prize pack too..
so my layout.... You are sunshine... my gorgeous girl!! she cheers me up with her beautiful smile!!
a close up....
and my layout...
thanks for coming by.. wishing you all a sunshiney day!!

two challenges....
hi there.
this layout is of my second daughter Bethany when she was about 8 months old, and i created it for a challenge set by my friend Amanda which you can find here http://amandasscrappyjoint.blogspot.com/2011/09/sent-directly-from-heavenim-trying-to.html where she has set a challenge which you can find herehttp://born2create.ning.com/forum/topics/about-time-we-had-a-layout-challenge... whew!! i hope all these links work!! anyhoo it is for a shabby layout about a baby.. and this is what i came up with...
and the second layout i have is for Scrap of Difference, where Jo is running a word challenge.. and this time it is to use the words.... WHAT IF???
well after thinking about this for quite some time, as i didnt want to do a layout that was a bit negative, so i thought about what if i hadnt discovered scrapbooking...?? my friend Marlene took me to my first scrap shop in early 2006, and i was just in awe of the beautiful papers and flowers, and well you know... the rest is history... i got bit by the scrap bug and there is no cure!!!
so what if i didn't discover scrapbooking...??
and in case you cant read my journalling....
my house would be tidier, my garden would be weed free, my ironing basket would be empty, my bank balance would look better, BUT... i wouldn't be surrounded by flowers, i have a cricut in my room and it isn't a bug. i love getting punches. i give new life to old buttons. i like stamping but not with my feet! a mask is not just something batman wears! glue is not just for school projects. a saucepan lid makes a perfect circle. distressing paper makes me happy. inking does not involve tattoos. a brad is more then a boys name. i deliberately make paint splatters! a layout is not something i do in the sun. i can pamper myself with pearls and bling! AND i wouldn't have so many wonderful online scrappy friends who brighten my day!!!
so thank you all for being a part of my scrappy life.. you are precious to me and i love the friendships i have even though we may never meet in real life.. and thank you for your comments.. they bring me sunshine!!
