Shine - Sassy Scrapper Aug Sketch

A very good day to you! Today is glorious outside.. spring is just around the corner... and August is nearly over....
I have managed to fit one more layout in for the month... the sketch from SASSY SCRAPPERS which looks like this..

I have used texture paste, MS punches, and the red flower is a gorgeous Manor House flower I got at the show in June..

White with One - on tour!

The August challenge for WW1 is a doozie! White, with maps and travel embellishments..Humm.. got me thinking.. and I am open to admit I found this one quite a challenge.. not just with the criteria, but also because I chose to do a layout on my son who has just done a big tour with his band and on his travels they stopped in at Canberra and took this photo outside Parliament House.. So the only travel themed papers I have are the Kaiser ones Pack your bags and Up Up and Away..So that is what I have used, and in my search for anything to use I found I had an arrow punch.. not sure how long I have had that, but it came in handy for this layout!!

New word for Bird is the Word - SPIRIT

The new word is up on the BITW site and it is SPIRIT... So many gorgoeus layouts to see on the blog from the Design Team, so I hope you find some inspiration...

I found a lovely quote with the word SPIRIT in it, and as I truly love the beauty and Majesty of horses, I had to use it.. "The essential joy of being with horses is that it brings us in contact with the rare elements of grace, beauty, spirit and fire..." and I totally agree!!!

Watch me ride - 123 challenge for August

Hi all, so sorry I haven't been around but I feel like I have been busy without much to show for it!!!  Thanks for the new followers and all the amazing comments on my last post.. thank you so much....

now onto the next challenge I have managed to do....

For the 123 August challenge, is it to use texture paste, the color green and the word watch/watching....

I have used a mix of older Kaiser papers for this one, with some fussy cutting of the flowers..

It is always momentous when a child learns to ride with out the training wheels... and so when my youngest took off riding without the wheels,  of course she yells....

SOU card sketch & KIUP sketch for August

Hello there,  I hope this finds you all well...

The latest card sketch for Stuck on U  is this one....

which is so cute... and a good reason for me to attempt to do a card... I hope one day I shall be good at them... haha!! and my card looks like this....

I actually embossed the background and used a die from Cherry Lynn for the lattice and my favourite oldest punch the retro daisy for the flowers... Marianne butterfly dies, MS punch and some liquid pearls... and thanks to the girls from SOUS who left me such encouraging comments on my last card too!!

and I have created a layout for the Kraft it up august challenge which is to use a sketch which I have used like this...

I got a new mask which I just had to try out...(with texture paste of course!!)

A sweet moment...

I have used old papers and the older style petaloo and kaiser flowers.. MS punch, washi tape and stamped around the edge of the layout... (Thanks to the fabulous RACHEL for your reminder to get out the stamps and USE them... you can check out her stunning layout HERE...)

Full of Christmas love - sketch for Scraptherapy August

HI.. well seeing as there are squillions of new Christmas paper ranges coming out and I have many (lots and lots really!!) of Christmas photos from years gone by, I thought for the sketch from SCRAPTHERAPY I would use a Christmas photo.. I love this photo of my DD and my great nephw, just being silly at the Carols night in Toowoomba last Christmas.. and I really loved the sketch too...

and I pretty much stuck to it.. I love the banners!!

I have used Upikit papers, MS punches, K&Co 3d flowers, gold bead trim, old kaiser rub ons, some mist, and the little stars at the top are the bits from the punched edge.. just thought I would pop a few of them on other wise they just go in the bin!! 3 of the baubles are lifted up on foam tape for a bit of dimension...

PEACE - New Bird is the Word

The new word for BITW is PEACE.. you can use it in your journalling or in your title... I usually go to google and type in quotes on..... (the word) and get lots of lovely quotes to use on my layout, but this time I just went with the thoughts I felt when I looked at the photo I used....

I got one of my kids to take a photo of me...(because I am usually on the other end of the camera!!) I am at Stradbroke Island and somehow I could gaze out at the water for hours, I love the peaceful feeling it gives me.. even if the waves are choppy, there is something wonderful about the ocean....

In solitary moments, I find peace...

and a bit closer..

I have used texture paste and a mask for the back ground and lots of die cut flourishes and kaiser wood pieces, stamped images and flowers and some old rope that I cut off a gift bag to all mash in together for beach stuff.

Aim for the moon - STG's August challenge

The August challenge forSCRAP THE GIRLS is to use STARS!! How good is that challenge..

I had this photo of Nisha looking out our lounge window at a very bright full moon and thought.....humm... I shall use that photo with the quote I love...

Aim for the moon, even if you miss, you will land among the stars!!

I used old kaiser papers, used some gesso and a star mask, punches and stars cut out with dies.. and old kaiser flowers too!!

New Word for BITW - Shadow

Happy August everyone.. for us aussies it is the last month of winter, and I for one am looking forward to getting these frosty mornings over with!!

New month.. new challenges all over the place...

The new Word for BIRD IS THE WORD is SHADOW... so many possibilities to use this word in your title or journalling.. pop over and check out the DT layouts, and I hope you get some inspiration and give this challenge a go..There is a beautiful kit from Paper Stories to be won..

Now my layout using the word shadow...

I took a few photos at sunset December 31 last year, the last remaining rays of sun for 2011, (what a year!) and I used this photo, I thought it worked for the word shadow...

The pink and cream flowers are stamps which  I cut out and put liquid pearls as centers, and layered a few with foam tape, the flourishs are the really old kaiser wood ones painted black and a MS punched edge around the photo with kaiser rhinestones..

O Happy Days - Daring you to scrap July

Wow.. this month has nearly come to an end...I have scrapped another layout this time for Daring you to scrap - July which is to use twine and tape... and as I have some new washi and twine I just had to create a layout.. I have had some Grace Taylor stickers for ages from Big W and I went a bit crazy with them, but I did manage to use up at least 2 packets so I am happy with that, as well as it was great therapy!!

Your First Friends - OUAS July

The challenge for OUAS July is to use this sketch....

and the theme is Friends..

I have wanted to scrap this photo for such a long time and this has given me the reason to stop procrastinating and do it!!!

This photo is very special to me and my youngest daughter.. It was taken a few weeks before we arrived to meet her and take her to be in our family.. She is with 2 of her very special little friends and one of her carers..... I am sure you can tell she is the one on the left with the most amazing smile...
I have put my journalling on a card and tucked it into the little envelope, just because it is so special.. I have used the Echo Park papers Hello summer as I wanted this to be bright and happy, just like her smile!!

STB's July - School memories and SOU card sketch

This month at SCRAP THE BOYS the challenge is to use school photos.. Now I love to support as many challenges as I can every month, so I thought  I would give this one a go, mainly as I find the male layouts harder to do and I have to think harder as to how to embellish the page... so I thought a school layout would be a great challenge.. These photos are of my son, taken when he was in Year 12 his senior year and he is in his senior jersey...taken in 2002... Yeech!! that means he was last in school 10 years ago!!!

And STUCK ON YOU SKETCHES have begun to have a card sketch to try, and as I am trying to get better at cards, I thought I would try their sketch and make a card...

You Sweet Thing - WW1 July & Scrapjacked July

Well Hello there! Thanks for coming by!!

The July challenge at WW1 is to use white and polka dots and tape.. and I couldn't go past pink polka dots and washi tape.. I had some old papers and some new washi so I went with that...

I added some misted dots on the paper as well...

You sweet thing....

I made some cute washi flags as well as using the washi as stripes above the photo....even the flowers are dotty!!

Also this week I came across the SCRAPJACKED JULY reveal and the card caught my eye which was created by Andrea and looks like this...

and I have scrapjacked it and created my card which looks like this....

The new Bird Word - Reach

The new word for BITW is REACH, and there are sooo many possibilities to use this word in your title or quote or journalling... pop on over and see what the Design Team have created using this word... but before you go, this is my layout!!

This is my DD Bethany who is turning 25 on the 28th July, and she was my strong willed tantrum throwing 2 year old, but I tell you, she is strong and bold and has plans to go to uni next year and I believe she can do anything she puts her heart too..So this quote is so appropriate for her right now!!

Beautiful You - STG July challenge

The challenge for SCRAP THE GIRLS is to use black white and one other color.. sooo I had this photo and I have used black white and red.... and these colors look wonderful together!!

I have used embossed black card stock and papers from my stash.. I painted the chippie white..the bows are from my stash, martha steward punches, cute little lady birds, roses,  lace and the red hexagons are lifted up on foam tape..

Mum and I - Annas Craft Cupboard July sketch...

Hi.. there, I hope this finds you all well...  I have been a bit slow lately, however I have managed to do a few things in the last week!! It must be the bleak skies that make me feel sluggish!!  I thought a sketch would be something to get me started again.... I hope!! So I found the lovely sketch from ANNAS CRAFT CUPBOARD which I have used like this....

I don't have many photos of my Mum and I, so theses photos are so precious... They were taken on Mothers Day this year, in a park, in the May sunshine... and I love them....

I have made the circle into a oval and put it over the photos instead of under the photos like the sketch suggests...I have used a mix of Kaiser papers for this...

I was also hopping around blogs trying to get some mojo happening, and I saw that SCRAPHAPPYKAT
was having a scrap lift challenge... a scraplift really is good for the slack mojo, so I created a card based on the card given to lift...
While I had the Kaiser papers out I used them and some really old 3-d stickers...

and I am not sure if I have put these two cards on my blog either... I have been enjoying creating cards when I am not feeling too scrapful ( is that a word??)... and one day I am sure they will come in handy to give away...

and yes I do love bows on cards!!

New Word for Bird is the Word - BEYOND

The new word for BITW is BEYOND... It may be a bit trickey to use this word, but pop on over to the blog and take a look at the DT layouts and hopefully you will find some inspiration...There is a sketch there too which you may like to use but it is not strictly necessary..

When I was thinking of how I could use the word beyond, a poem came to my mind and then I found a special photo and went with that..

If you have ever lost a dear pet, then perhaps you have heard of the Rainbow Bridge poem but if you haven't you can read about it HERE.. We have had some amazing and much loved pets in our family and one of them was our Labrador cross rotty dog we called Ebony... when she went from our lives she left a big hole.. and somehow I hope there is a rainbow bridge and we will see our special pets again one day... surely there will be animals in Heaven??

BEYOND THE RAINBOW BRIDGE.....

I used a lovely fence and arch from Imaginariam designs chipboard.. and fussy cut the flowers and layered them with foam tape..

I have printed out the Rainbow Bridge poem and put it in a scroll....

I printed out a little bridge and put it behind the chipboard to give the illusion you go under the arch and over the bridge....
