OUAS July

A very good day to you all! I hope your day is going well!
The July challenge for Once upon a sketch is to use this sketch..
and use the journalling theme "GROW".
When I first saw the challenge I thought of the song... when I grow up to be a man... and I really hoped I would think of something else as I find male layouts sooo challenging... but I thought well it is a challenge after all.. So I used a photo of my son Nathan when he was 3 years and then I added a smaller recent photo of him.

When I grow up to be a man..
The journalling just says that even though he has grown up I cherish the memories of him as my little boy...

I did enjoy creating the back ground on this layout with texture paste mists and masks..

Thanks for dropping in and thank you for the wonderful comments you leave me too!

Words or whatever June/July sketch and Anna's Craft Cupboard July sketch

A marvellous Monday to you all! The day outside is simply beautiful so much so I almost forget it is winter here..
I get a few moments here and there to scrap lately, so I shall share the latest 2 layouts I have created.. Both are for sketch challenges..

Somehow I came across the sketch for Words or whatever and thought I would create a layout based on the criteria, which was to use the sketch, a black and white photo and a wow piece of chipboard.. I found the title was a wow chippie and went from there.. the photo is my mum as a teenager, and I am guessing the date of the photo..This layout is different from my usual...

The sketch..

A picture is worth a thousand words..
a bit closer..
I have layered up some older ranges of the Kaiser collectables..

The next sketch is the July sketch for Anna's Craft Cupboard which I always enjoy doing..
which I have used like this..

I snapped this photo of my DD and our horse a little while ago and I just love the moment that was captured..

Moments.
and a bit closer..

I have used the forget me not collection from Kaiser and fussy cut and layered up those flowers..

Thank you for visiting my blog and thank you  for the lovely comments you take a moment to leave me..I appreciate you!.. have a wonderful day!!

Cardabilities #78 and feeling sketchy #64

Hello there, well it seems like we are into July already whether we can keep up or not!!
My week has been busy, and I have been in a card making mood, perhaps the thought of a layout has been just a bit too much!!

The sketch for Cardabilities was such a lovely one I sat and created  3 cards using the sketch and some papers I had on hand..

the sketch..
and my cards...

I also created a card using the sketch from Feeling Sketchy which looks like...
and my card..

Well what a surprise to find I had won the Kaiser sketch for June.. I only completed the layout a couple of hours before the deadline of  June 30 too... see here.. very happy with that..

Thanks so much for coming by and as always I appreciate you taking a moment to leaving a comment too..

Kaiser Saturday Sketch #5

Good Evening! I hope you all are enjoying a wonderful weekend... The end of the month is hours away and I have one more layout I have managed to complete..
The Kaiser Saturday Sketch #5 was a really fabulous one and I have just squeezed it in before we say good bye to another month..

The sketch..
Sketch 5 Juneand I flipped it once clockwise... to look like this.

And my layout which is mainly the Miss Empire paper range but all Kaiser papers is about my DD hair which she had colored red for a few months.. It really looked good, but it was high maintenance and just before she left to go to uni she died it back dark brown, so I am glad I got this photo before she did.. I purposely used the red letters for the title to stand out, just like her gorgeous red hair...

RED..
and just a little closer... I layered up the flower collectables with foam tape for dimension..

Well tonight is D day for blogger reader, I have a link at the top left of my blog for you to click to follow my blog on bloglovin.. I am sure I have transferred all the blogs I read to bloglovin, so I hope when I check in tomorrow everything will be as it should be... Thanks for coming by and your lovely comments are always appreciated and enjoyed...

SCRAP THE GIRLS, CARDABILITIES #77 AND FEELING SKETCHY #63

Hello there! what a week I have had last week.. but today is school holidays and I am so glad about that!
Last week I had my DD move out to begin  studying at Uni. I am one of those mums who love to have their kids around, and it is pretty emotional when they fly out of the nest.. But I know she will be fine and is off on a new chapter in her life..
So I got a few minutes here and there to scrap last week..

The challenge for SCRAP THE GIRLS for June is to use winter colors.. so I have used browns cream and aqua colors...

The journey begins in your heart..

and some closies..

and I had some time to create 2 cards..

For the Cardabilities #77 sketch which looks like ... and my card..

and for Feeling Sketchy #63 the sketch looks like..

and my card..
I am looking forward to a slower week this week with DD on school holidays, I hope your week is great too what ever you are up to!
Thanks for coming by, and thank you so very much for the lovely comments you leave me!!

New BIRD Word - Courage

Good evening! Yes it is a bit late here, but I have been out all day and have also been waiting for the new word to go up for BIRD IS THE WORD and so now it is up and I want to share my layout.
The word is COURAGE, and when I came across the quote I have used I thought of my eldest daughter with her life and dreams before her...
I hope you pop over and check out the DT's take on this sketch, I feel we have all put a lot of thought into our layouts, perhaps it was the word that gave us the inspiration..

This is the wonderful sketch from Heather, to use if you wish.. Most of the DT have used it but it is not an absolute requirement.. As long as we see the word for the month on display somewhere on your layout...I have rotated the sketch once clockwise.

Don't shrink your dreams, increase your courage.

I have used the Elegance papers from Kaiser for this layout..

some closer views..
Layers of the collectables!! This layout is now on display at the Kaiser shop in Toowoomba for anyone who goes there...

Thanks for coming by and thank you for all the wonderful comments too, so many from my last post I am blown away!! And I hope if you get time to join in with Bird Is The Word too.. Remember it finishes on the 14th July as it starts on the 15th of each Month!!

Once Upon a Sketch June and Annas Craft Cupboard sketch June

Good afternoon/morning/evening! We have had drizzly weather here on and off since Monday..  Not good for getting the washing dry, but good for being inside scrapping!

The June Challenge for OUAS is to use this sketch
and to scrap about your guilty pleasure... Humm which one was I going to do?? hehe!! Well after coming home from the Craft Show with a bag of flowers from MH I guess I have to confess I LOVE FLOWERS...  I used to have a garden full of flowers, but when I discovered scrapbooking, I found the paper flowers were just as beautiful and I didn't have to work out in the sun to get them... and somehow my stash just seems to keep growing and growing, even though I use them!! So my layout is about my love for flowers.. The photo is of me in the Queens Park Gardens in Toowoomba in spring, but my journalling... which I have hidden.. reveals my love for scrapbooking flowers!!

Enjoying the flowers..
I have fussy cut Websters Pages papers and layered them around the photo... now see the flowers on the tag....?
When you lift it out... it reveals my journalling...
and there is my journalling... so just between you and me... I have an addiction to flowers.. Resistance is useless... And yes sometimes I do feel guilty I have soo many flowers.. drawers and bags of them.. but I will use them.. I am sure I will.. hehe!!

The June sketch for Annas Craft Cupboard is a lovely one, and I used photos of my sisters friends dog...and I am going to put this in a frame for her..His name is Rascal... and he is so cute!!

the sketch..
 June 2013 Sketch

Such a rascal.

As always thank you for dropping by, and thank you for your lovely comments too!!

White with One June and Feeling Sketchy #62

Hello there where ever you are! Today is a Monday Holiday here.. Gota love them!!

I had a wonderful time at the Craft Show on Saturday, spent wayyy too much money, caught up with some lovely scrappy friends, saw lots of wonderful creations from the Tutors displays.. The Masters layouts were not on display, however I did catch up with 3 of this years masters Bec Beattie,  Heather McMahon and Kaye Grieve, and listened to their talk and saw their entries which were all amazing.. Well done to them and I hope they have a wonderful year!!

I have been scrapping after all that wonderful inspiration I saw..

The WHITE WITH ONE JUNE challenge is to use white with coral pink and decorative edges..

I have used various brands of punches, some new rose lace from Craft Queen (from the show!) and even made a few of the flowers.. (with new dies I got on Saturday!!)

Everything beautiful has its moment..
and a bit closer..
Do you remember that old BG paper with the bird cages?? It would have to be years old.. well I found a sheet of  that in my paper drawer and cut out a few of the bird cages!!

The sketch for the card for FEELING SKETCHY #62 looks like

this...

and my card..
Thanks so much for coming by and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day! Thank you too for any comments you leave for  me!!
